If the spirit of voluntarism is to be encouraged to fill the gap in vital services in our wonderful land, then why can't the banks be run in a voluntary capacity? I'm not talking about the folks who work in the branches and who, generally, do a fine job. I am talking about the executive levels, those people who earn a handsome salary PLUS even better looking bonuses. Surely the guys and gals who do such a superb job of running the upper levels of our banking administration aren't so greedy as to continue taking those hand-outs while we're all in such a tight corner financially? I'd have thought their big-hearted generosity would have surged to the fore when they heard we were all so skint, and offered to work free of charge. For the benefit of the Big Society. Fair's fair.
Now, what about our excellent politicians..?
